  1. I think that way too many people from advanced countries are looking for handouts. I mean come on if everybody sued for there own clumsiness then businesses would have to either go bankrupt or jack prices up to protect themselves from frivolous lawsuits. These kinds of actions lead to recessions.  I understand that he may not have insurance and the store could help him with medical bills, but they shouldn't be forced to on a frivolous claim. I mean would you want to get sued for that amount for somebody walking in your yard, not watching where he was going, and trip on your child's toy. That is called an accident. I would conclude that both parties should be held liable, because the accident was preventable on both parties.

  2. he should of been looking where he was going. i don;t think it's fair you should expect that food could fall of a shelf in M&S

  3. this is RIDICULOUS.

its amazing how people would do just for money/

  4. think he needs more of the grape..only this time from a bottle!..what a load of balloney..hope he doesn`t win a penny..

  5. People will do anything for money. Why is he depressed?? Idiot!  Hope he does not get a penny!

  6. i agree this is stupid

  7. Hmmm.  I was in M & S last week.  If only I'd known...

  8. He should have been looking where he was going- unless someone was waiting for him to walk past and then threw the grape under his feet- then it was an ACCIDENT- a word which seems to have gone out of use in this culture of compensation-

  9. he is trying it on....

  10. that is sooooooooooooooooo g*y!!!

they will do anything for money these people

  11. £300,000 for slipping on a grape!!  Its crazy

  12. Somewhat out of place.

Who dropped the grape and who confirmed

all effect results from the fall?

  13. The man can ask for anything he wants, to cover his purported damages - now, it is up to him to support that claim, and get the judge and jury to deem it reasonable.  If there is enough supporting evidence to prove that he deserves the money, then the negligent party will have to pay for it.  However, if it reeks of opportunism, and outrageous claims - it will all become clear in the courtroom.  That is the beauty of law - truth comes to light, eventually.  Have a healthy and happy leap year!

  14. he deserves compo for the physical injury only. come on, depression from slipping on a grape? as if, what he has a fear of grapes too? what a loser.

  15. my mum slipped on water at the flower department in a supermarket - after a year with lawyers she got £700, even though she damaged her knee and neck and was a pensioner.

  16. i THINK IT'S ********

I mean ok for the injury, but "depression" ... come on!!

  17. Were turning into something really bad these days, and it will destroy us. For every little thing that happens, the first thing that pops into our heads is, CAN WE SUE? its ridiculous, its making companies restrict so much that would benefit our communities, our schools are afraid at every little thing that happens, our hospitals are worried...everything is getting bad, life isnt just about money, and personally i wouldnt feel any pride if my whole bank was gathered in one court case, why dont people just work for there money.

  18. This guy needs a wake up call. £300,000? Ridiculous. Who says the grape was from M&S anyway?

This guy seriously needs to get a life. He should be ashamed of himself when the British troops in Iraq are getting paid £10,000 a year.

  19. This man has had the humiliation of being graped in a public car-park and he's only a poor accountant. You should feel sorry for him and M & S should jolly well fork out.

I hope he received proper counselling. His life is ruined and he is now unable to "knee" his clients in the gonads, a critical skill required by accountants nor can he now genuflect to the Inland Revenue.

He must be going through h**l.

  20. Perhaps it was customer who dropped the grape ...you know the type that sample the goods before they buy. M&S will be employing a good lawyer and will know all the angles whilst this guy is representing himself. Who knows what will happen.

I only know that most retail stores are guilty of wet and dirty floors that are potential hazards and they ought to take more heed of these potential hazards.

  21. Do you rekon I could sue them for finding a spider in my new sheets? For psychological trauma and a new vaccum bag?

  22. Ooooo now you've posted this it could lead to a

    " Bunch " of lawsuits ;)

No case to answer as impossible to prove.

  23. its about time they cleaned there shops.they take our cash but never tidy up!!!!!!!!!

@ theprodigalson (a few icons above me)

  24. He is to his limit on some credit cards.

  25. thats retarded it'll be thrown out due to lack of proof

  26. I think it's taking things beyond a joke to be honest, real people with real compensation claims should be given priority.

  27. Its just sour grapes.

  28. Gordon Bennet.Heaven help him if he ever falls down the stairs.
