  4. If you are a non-swimmer yourself there are still a few things you can do to help.  The old saying was "Reach, Throw, Row, Go."  And that still holds true to some extent.  Remember to always send for help first!

    1.  If it is possible to do so, lie or kneel in a safe spot and extend an arm out to them.  If your arm doesn't reach, extend a leg.   Or find an object to extend, like a pole or even a towell.  Always make sure you, the would-be-rescuer, is in a position where you cannot get pulled in with the victim.

    2.  Throw a floating object or a rope to the victim.  Again from a safe spot, throw an object such as a ring bouy, life-jacket, or even half-full water jug out just in front of the person so that it will glide into them and they might be able to grab it.  If it is a ring bouy with a line (or a rope), step on the end of the line so that it doesn't go into the water, then throw the bouy past the victim and then pull it back to them.

    3.  Row means using a boat, obviously, if there is one available and you know how to safely use it.

    4.  Go is the absolute last resort.  As a non-swimmer you may be able to safely wade out to a drowning child.  Even wading it is best to take something to use as a float or barrier between yourself and the victim.  Use a bouy, a pool float, even a shirt or towell that you can extend or toss an end out to the person.  Keep your weight back towards shore as much as possible and move forward very cautiously.

NEVER TURN A SINGLE VICTIM INTO DOUBLE VICTIMS.  Many people unneccessarily lose their lives trying to help others without thinking through the situation.  There are often safe and effective means of making a rescue without getting wet.  Use your brain, call for help.

Consider taking the American Red Cross Emergency Water Safety Class, which also accomodates non-swimmers.  Call your Red Cross Chapter for more information.  It is also a good idea to become trained in First Aid and CPR.  Everyone should do it!

  5. the first thing to do is evaluate the situation. and get the victim to calm down. generally they are drowning because they are freaking out. the get the attention of another person who can help or find a floating object.

  6. Just try to save her by anything. Depends upon the facility i can have at that particular time. A wooden gurder may be helpful as well as a tube. Shout to ask people for help.

  7. request my friend who knows swimming to help her.

  8. Shout for help.Thatz all I can do.

  9. Someone that isn't a strong swimmer has no right trying to save a drowning victim as they both will die.

Pretending that I never had lifeguard training and didn't know how to swim, the best option would be find someone else to get their attention.

  10. 2 option

    1. Throw a floatble object for her to grab on (eg: wood or lifejacket)

    2. Get help from a nearby people who knew how to swim.

  11. let the sharks be out

  12. Let the crocs out. She'll learn how to swim in record time!
