  1. They became old fashioned and out-moded, they sounded to jolly and cosy for to-days `clean cut` family images. The very sound of the word `jingle`is out of place in to-days world.

  2. Haha I was JUST wondering this :-P

but anyways... I guess they just got too old for television and they are thinking of new jingles :-(

    im gonna miss

Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion, Upset Stomach... DIAREAH!!!!!!

I never see that anymore :-P

  3. As an advertising writer, my best answer is that they just went out of style. They're considered cheesy. They're being used a bit more now, but for the "kitsch" factor more than anything.

Of course, I think it would be fun to do jingles, but clients don't ask for them. I do hear them from time to time in low-budget ads (Stanley Steemer comes to mind) but the days of the good ol' Oscar Mayer Wiener song seem to be gone.

  4. Wow, making me think again.

I think nowadays the tendency is to make commercials sound cool, or gimmicky. And sometimes that actually makes them sound dumb, or flaky. I was gonna say 'corny', too, but lots of times I like corny.

I vaguely remember an old Shasta Root Beer commercial (maybe from the late 70s) that showed in old timey black and white film, and everyone was running around with mugs of soda with big foamy heads, and they'd blow the foam in each other's faces. I think the jingle they were singing was "Shasta, hasta be Shastaaaa".  That was hilarious!

Yea, those were classics, and they didn't have to use profanity or vulgar stuff to sell their product.

    Yea, good question, Miss Angel!!

  5. not sure, but i miss them
