That was a very pretty neighborhood when I was there 25 years ago . I was US Military on Ft. Gulick . There was also a golf course and some kind of 'club'(like a VFW) located just outside the gates of Ft. Gulick . Went to a wild " Atlantic Side Survivors Party' there in 1982 ish .

  1. Hi, I live in Panama City.  We have a driver that drives my husband around the city since my husband has a visual disability.  Our driver worked for the military in the px as a supervisior when the US was in possession of the canal.  I asked him about Margarita and he told me it is now run down and unsafe.  He told me he has a friend that still lives there who worked for him back in the day and she had to fight the Panama government to retain the house she paid for and has the paperwork for.  He said it was a very difficult time for her.  He also said she has difficulty taking a vacation.  When she goes away her home is broken into every time and nobody knows anything about what went on.  Colon is very close by and adds to the problem since the area is now unsecured.

He told me like you it was so beautiful and 'fresh' as they say here for 'cool and breezy', lol.  About the trees and some of the area has the view of the canal, but he says it is very unsafe and unsecured.  As things go here and probably always will the crimes of opportunity are high in this area right now.
