  1. There are still furniture and appliance stores that rent or rent-to-own. Need I mention that this is absolutely the worst way to purchase something? If you figure in the cost of money (interest) most people end up spending more than double what they should - usually for inferior products. It's strictly for folks who are really down on their luck and not too bright.

    I recently saw a TV ad for one such place that made it sound as if this was the smartest thing you could do.  Wrong. Happy, well-dressed, apparently successful couples in the store grinning their way to high-priced junk. And I couldn't believe these places were still in business. If you are considering such a transaction, may I suggest you try www.Craigslist.com instead. There are always bargains on most anything and usually not too far from home.

  2. The only place that does that, at least on a nationwide basis, is RentACenter. Its the greatest scam in America.
