Whats Better? Riviera Maya Mexico or Cancun Mexico?

Were going in a group of 9. Mostly middle aged, and were going in the middle of June.

Stay in Riviera Maya. Close to the Tulum Ruins, Xcaret, Xel Ha,and the ferry to Cozumel. Good diving or snorkeling excursions in Puerto Morelos.

Both offer really great options. I was in both back in October for work. The Mayan Riviera offers resorts that are much more expansive while Cancun offer beautiful resorts but on a smaller scale. Cancun can offer a lot if you are into going into town, to the bars and restaurants etc. If you go to the Mayan Riviera you can stay at a number of resorts that are close to the ferry, fifth avenue etc. Both locales are about an hour and a half from the huge ruins so keep that in mind. playa del carmen would be the best for you...cancun is great but it is mainly clubs downtown....riviera maya area is more laid back and has great shopping...5th street is closed to cars and is full of shops and great restaurants...it is close to all adventures and attractions...great beaches...i will also be there in june...fly into cancun and get the bus from the airport to playa...and a taxi from there to wherever you are staying...and vise versa going back

I've only been to a resort called Riu Palace in Playa Del Carmen. I would highly suggest this all-inclusive resort!

We went for a wedding on the beach...it was beautiful!
