Whats Is A Good Free Antivirus or way to clean my computer.

Question

i download stufff of the internet and things and i think my computer has some virus's. i have been using avg free but it has not bee catching them i guess. any ways you can suggest to help clean my comuter and make it faster?

I just upgraded to Avast because of its anti-trootkit scanner in the free version, plus it has higher detection rates than AVG

and a P2P shield for limewire

Try to get a registry cleaner. The registry cleaner will make your computer go fast. Try CCleaner.

threatfire is free and better than av... i know from expierence..remove avg firs ..install threatfire and run a full scan it will take care of the viruses.. you should also run disk clean-up first ..it may not be viruses , may be to much c**p, try disk deframent also..avast isnt any better .....

Avast is a good free anti-virus.

You should forget AVG 8.0 free edition it has a nice interface but is poor at blocking viruses so not worth using.

I've tested both Avast Home Edition (free) and AVG 8.0 (free), AVG let me save 75% of the test viruses to my hard drive only blocking 25% were as Avast blocked 75% of viruses, Avast picked up the other 25% of the viruses that were in zip files the second I tried to extract them.

I use Avast combined with Comodo Pro on my XP home computer and have no problems with virus's or spyware.

Do a system restore and then update your avg and run it.

Agree with Soccer dave...AVG....ok up to V7.5, but sadly V8 is lacking in many ways. Looks pretty don't it? Low detection rate, the longer it is on your machine the scans progressively take longer too.....in  two words....it sucks!
