  1. I use it regularly to configure my router using it's inbuilt CLI (command line interface/interpreter) You get access to all of the routers configuration, not just the part exposed by the graphical interface.


  2. Telnet provides a command shell that is accessible over a network. The server runs on the machine the command run on, the client runs on the machine the user is using.

    It is insecure (being completely unencrypted) and has been almost entirely replaced by SSH.
