  1. What would be best is if you went into somewhere like PC World or one of the new Best Buy stores in the UK and told them exactly what you're looking to do with the laptop (pretty much what you've said above) and they'll recommend one that will suit your needs.

If you do this, taking out their cover-plan will allow the staff to knock some money off extras you may buy, like Norton Anti-Virus or a laptop carry case or something. The cover-plan costs you extra, but you can cancel the cover-plan the very next day - and you won't have to pay a penny for it.

Other than that, I wouldn't recommend buying Microsoft Office as there's a free and legal version of an office application online:

  2. Yeah i need one too, except really cheap. There is an acer one for £200 from pc world or curries, I'm not sure, look on their websites.

It has a rubbish memory but you could buy a cheap memory thing, you know one of the realllllllllllllly big ones from maplins or ebay and carry that round with it, there is one in my local Lidls at the moment that has loads of memory (more than 100gb)  but compact and cheap(£54.99) they are abit like big pen drives that you connect with a usb and have loads of memory. And the laptop has Windows Vista i think.

If anyone else finds one please let me know because i want a pretty one that is less than £300. i doesn't need a web cam but at least 120gb of memory and at least Microsoft XP because i got a free wireless modem completely free if we stay with BT for another year, since we have been with Bt for years we are considered loyal customers, so we get free stuff, but i use the internet alot and i get complained at, so I'm gonna get a laptop and have some internet for free :))))

Once used only by travelling business people, laptops are now a great computing solution for everyone, from high-powered executives travelling First Class to families wanting a PC to use at home. Whether you want something portable just so that you can move it from room to room, or need a very lightweight workhorse because you're constantly on the road, there's a laptop out there that's right for you.

  4. a sony vaio series sz - i use this, it fits just right in my backpack; if you want smaller, try series tz - it's good for chatting; if you want even smaller, try series ux - i think it has a touchscreen, so you can double it as a tablet pc, it also plays media files.

regarding the memory, you can customize your own at sony.com

  5. The dell inspiron 1525 is a laptop with a 160gb hard drive, big enough to store many files and movies. It has a minimum of 2gb ram and is very stylish. A built in webcam is an optional extra that doesn't cost very much. Hope this helps!
