  1. based on the long running mayan calendar, the world will either end or enter a new era at 2012. To be exact, December 21.

  2. It's a load of Hogwash

According to the 2012ers it will be the end of the world because

    1. Nostradamus said so

    2. The Mayan calender ends

    3. an Ouija Board said so

    4. there will be a pole shift

    5. there will be a planetary alignment

    6. there will be a galactic alignment

    7. an asteroid will hit earth

    8. Planet X/ Nibiru will appear

    9. some crystal skull nonsense

    10. we are heading into a photon belt (whatever that’s supposed to be

    11. Indian Astronomer said so

    12. The Sun will blow up

    13. some Volcano or Earthquake

    14. a  Black Hole will come along

    15. the experiments in CERN’s LHC

and probably some other equally silly reasons.

I would take those doomsayers more serious if they

    - had a better track record (just how many times has the world ended already?)

    - could make up ONE story about it

  3. lol yea whats up with 2012. Just another year just another number.

  4. The Mayans probably predicted there would be speculation, leading to panic, and ultimately hysteria up to and including December 21, 2012.  Some suicides certainly, maybe even a few short-lived civil conflicts.  And then some embarrassment the next day, followed by sick calls related to hangovers.

Are my jokes not funny anymore?

  5. You're right. It's no big deal.

The History channel made a contemptible programming decision by *repeatedly* airing one of the worst pseudo-documentaries ever made. Now there are millions of people, mostly kids, who think we're all going to die in four years. I really do hope that some of the parents of traumatized children get together and file a class action lawsuit against the History Channel for child abuse.

The people who made and appeared on that documentary are frauds and kooks. I saw a 3 minute and 50 second clip of it on youtube and counted 15 flagrant errors or misrepresentations.

Put 2012 into the "search for questions" box and see what you get. This whole Mayan calendar, galactic alignment, 2012 thing is pure bunk. Then when that got popular, everybody else with a pet doomsday fantasy piggybacked theirs onto the original.

God, I hope I live that long. I just wish I could see all these people who are promoting this, face to face, and then take them to task on Dec. 22, 2012.
