Question:

Whats Worse Voting On A Bill Or Blowing It Off? ?

I keep hearing liberals bash McCain for his voting record- that evidently McCain voted on everything as a yes or no, at least McCain knows where he stands. Obama could not even decide on how to vote so for 130 legislatures he just marked in Present instead of putting yes or no. Shouldn't a LEADER know how to answer a simple YES OR NO? Was Obama trying to avoid conflict for his future campaign instead of working for the PEOPLE - US? Why is it always about Obama and his campaign ?

  1. I think that I have never seen a US Senate vote marked "present."  I know it is their but almost always senators vote, eye, nay, or they abstain.  The Illinois Senate is different and there they do vote "present," when they like a bill, but not enough to vote on it till it is fixed, so that is where you are getting confused. One other thing. A bill may come up for a vote, and say it is called the:  Kids need Milk," bill.  Now that sounds good, right? but now suppose someone slips in an earmark creating a special 5 percent sales tax for the devil.

The senator not wanting to give money to the devil, votes against the bill, and guess what?  Next thing you know people are saying the senator voted against the kids milk bill, so unless you have the bill, with all the ear marks, you can't tell anything from a failed bill vote.   clear?.

  2. Voting present in the Illinois house is the same as voting "no on the bill as it is written" but saying you are still interested in the idea.

Bills go through several rewrites before they are passed. It is a part of the procedure that they have used for ages. Obama has explained it and the media has checked it out. The Republicans are quite aware of the fact and continue to use it as a slander because, as you saw tonight, they have no platform other than McCain is a POW and bringing up the ISLAMO-FASCISTS.

Did you hear them ONCE mention the war in Afghanistan where Osama Bin Laden is still operating across the border and growing stronger because Bush and McCain have drained our military resources chasing imaginary WMDs.

Did you hear them mention WMDs? Did you hear them mention Osama Bin Laden? Did you hear them mention McCain's adviser who was instrumental in the Georgian War with Russia while he was on McCains payroll?

No...you didn't hear very many FACTS tonight. You heard the Republicans slander people, who were not there to defend themselves, in front of a sparsely populated room of hard-core Republicans.

  3. Voting on a bill that you don't know enough about is the worst.

Get your facts straight... Obama voted Present on bills in the Illinois Senate. I am from Indiana, and in the Illinois Senate, it is EXTREMELY common for State Senators and Representatives to vote Present in order to signify that they agree with the bill, but would like minor changes made to it before it gets their full support. It is an intelligent and strategic way to vote, and the best way to get things accomplished in a state like Illinois. Thanks for trying though.

EDIT: To the person above me... Calling John Kerry a flip-flopper thousands of times worked 4 years ago, but it won't work this year because John McCain is the BIGGEST flip-flopper of them all. He is currently in the process of flip-flopping on his stance on A.N.W.R., and everybody knows it. Flipicus Flopicus.

  4. whats worse is using POW experience to say you can lead

  5. We need a decisive president.  Not a flip flopper.

  6. I suppose they would rather him vote "present" , then actually get anything accomplished.
