Whats a Caste theory, Colonial model, Split class and Split Labor market?

i have to learn these for my ethnic studies class. they are all theories

  1. Caste Theory - usually peculiar to India - the idea that each person is born into a specific rank in the social hierarchy (almost divinely ordained) - Brahmins on top and untouchables on the bottom - this is a very simplistic and lay explanation of the theory

    Colonial model - the idea that colonies are good, economically, for the mother country - and that he who has the biggest stick deserves to have whatever they steal (this is , once again, a lay, biased opinion)

    Split class - idea that society is divided into two classes - laborers and capital-owners - proletarians and bourgeoisie

    Split labor market - the idea that the U.S. has a dual economy - there is a rich upper tier that makes money from inheritance, investment, etc, and is able to make more money, become richer; and a lower tier that makes poor wages in the service sector, becomes poorer over time; due to the decline of the manufacturing sector, and the collapse of the previously existing "middle class" (sounds similar to split class theory, but is particular to the current American situation)
