What is a cool new hobby to pick up. That isn't too diffucult, could do it in a room, and doesn't need expensive materials.

I would suggest model railroading if you want a hobby that uses and teaches you a lot of skills. It's a hobby that has been around for decades, so there is A LOT of info out there. The most popular set-up for a beginner is HO scale on a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. If it's a hobby that interests you, look into a book called "HO Railroad That Grows".

Drawing, reading, writing your own stories to make a book or ... you could try to build a minature model of a boat and then build a bottle around it.
