As bonkie said, the answer must be Transnistria BUT I don't believe that counts as a country. It is a piece of Moldova. I read several articles about it (I knew a girl from Moldova) and it is an interesting area. Still, unless something has changed lately, I don't think it is truly a country.

Only places I can think of with 12 letters is  great Britain  and Transylvania  but neither of them are actual countries.  Great Britain is a group of countries.
