  2. Hurricane Larry if I remember correctly.

  3. Cyclone tracey was pretty destructive - they even made a mini-series out of it.

    And they are called cyclones rather than hurricanes in the southern hemisphere - something to do with whether they travel in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

  4. Cyclone Tracy, Dec 1974 when 49 people where killed and 22 people killed/lost at sea for a total of 71 along the Northern Territory

  5. While Cyclone Larry was very damaging to property and coastline, the worst is Cyclone Tracy (see first link below).

    Tracy began pounding the city of Darwin on Christmas Eve of 1974.  When the storm had passed, seven-in-ten of Darwin's buildings had been destroyed and about 100 residents were dead.
