Whats a first car for a 16 year old that is around 20000$ cld be used or new??

Im 16 and Getting my driver license and ive saved up 20000 and i wanna know wat kinda car i cld get with tat money i want to get into drifting and i want the car to have a good acceleration and it has to be safe or my parents wont let me get it it could be used or new

Chevy Cobalt

It has been rated as a very safe car, as far as small cars go.  They make a nifty little sporty Cobalt with pretty good acceleration.  Although I don't know what that would do for your insurance rates. The sporty version will be more expensive to insure, especially sincey you're 16.  They always make the 4 door.  I bought my daughter a brand new one when she turned eighteen. It was a four door, and she LOVED it.  She still has it two years later, and wouldn't trade it, cuz she likes it so much. It has been problem free, since she bought it.

For around 20 grand you could get a used Subaru WRX. Best in this price range for acceleration and it's fairly safe because of the all-wheel drive, but also means you won't be getting sideways...

Buy a used Civic and pocket the other $14,000 for college.  Save the "drifting" for the movies.

You're 16 and inexperienced you need to learn how to be safe and responsible behind the wheel.

I'd say save some of that for college. Cars for 16 year olds really shouldn't be new or expensive. =D

I'm 16 and I'll probably be getting a used Civic, they can be pretty cheap, check Vehix.com and the Civic website for more information. But they're a very top rated car, and my driver teacher told me they're great for teens our age.

Drifting is pretty dangerous stuff though, and if you're going to spend 20,000 I would be careful until you get more experience with the car. If you have an accident or get a ticket, your insurance goes up quite a bit.
