Whats a food sponsor?

I was reading about somebody catering for a large number on a small budget & one suggestion was to get food sponsors from your local shops. Please enlighten me.

An example would be you approach your local grocery store manager (or restaurant or catering company) and ask him to "supply" the food for the event at no charge in exchange for the publicity. Like you would put up a sign saying "This food provided by <Name of grocery store>" . Also other publicity of your event, like printed menus with his name on it, any newspaper articles would include his name. HE's doing it for advertising. Hope this helps.
