  1. If you multiply 3 times 5 times 8, you will get a number that is divisible by all three of those factors.  It just might not have four digits.  At that point, you can multiply by any other integer you like (2, 3, 4, etc.) to get a 4 digit number.  This last multiplication step will yield a number that is larger and has more factors, but the result will always still have 3, 5 and 8 as factors, because you're only multiplying and thus only adding factors.

  2. first multiply these numbers together. that way you know that the result is divisible by each.

    3*5*8 = 120

as long as the 4 digit number is divisible by 120, you're in business.

    1200 is a possible answer

  3. Multiply 3, 5 and 8 together:

    3 * 5 * 8 = 120

Now make it a 4 digit number by multiplying by 10 (or 11, or 12, or 20 whatever)

    120 * 10 = 1200

    1200 must be divisible by 3, 5 and 8 (because it is 3 * 5 * 8 * 10)
