  1. Most of the Chinese martial arts teach a good deal of weapons and many Japanese styles teach at least 3 or 4 and some teach many more.

The best bet for picking any school is always the same. Figure out what you want out of your training and what types of things you want to learn. Then start checking out your local schools. Find one that teaches all the things or at least most of the things you want to learn and then get down to business.

  2. It's not the style, it's the instructor.  You may even enjoy getting back to TKD if you find a new instructor.

  3. Tai chi or other wushu styles are great

specially Tai chi is a great exercise for meditation and relaxation while learning self-defense.

Also Tai chi forms are so much more rhythmic and more fun than tae kwon do ones !!!

  4. Alot of people will tell you this style or that style mainly because they are bias to that style. Think about why you want to do martail arts and what you want to get out of it.

Do you want street defence or would you want to compete either amateur or maybe someday go even further. Do you want something fun or disciplined. Many dojos gyms, sytles vary with each instructor. See whats around your area, ask as many questions as you can think of and watch a class.

There are alot of things that look cool but watch the early UFC's and you will see that Horse stance, cat stance etc will get you your *** kicked on the street and some styles work well against each other. Tae Kwon do-mainly leg orientated, crowd the guy and box him close quarters or take him to the ground and wrestle with him Jui-Jitsu style where he has lilttle experience,  all styles have flaws, try MMA if you can find it and mix in things from all styles to prevent you getting bored.

Remember its easy if its fun! Good INSTRUCTORS make it fun

  5. Japanese Jiu-jitsu I'd suggest which includes Kobudo ( weapons art ) ie: the Katana,Bo and Jo staff,Sai,Tonfa, Nunchaku and kobutan.

    Best wishes :)***
