  1. I got an old Corolla for my first car...it was great. My friend got a BMW for her first car, and my sister got my dads old truck. They all ran fine, but you need to see what you can afford. Also, you need to look at how well the car is running, the mileage, how it steers, everything.

  2. I'd try to get a used subaru or volvo.

Both can get through the snow, have good protection if you crash, and relatively good mileage for the small models.  If money is a real issue, I'd just go for a ford focus.

  3. take a second handed small clean one. cheap doesnt use a lot of petrol and easy to drive

  4. Honda, Toyota, Mazda.  These will be the most reliable and cheapest to run.  That's why they are worth more on the used market.  The Corolla is very well-built (and boring - we own one).  The Scion tC is a neat car if your parents have the bucks.

  5. Get one that you like your parents like and is used than it is less things to do!

  6. Certified Pre-Owned (2002 or newer) Japanese vehicle, preferably a Honda because of its long lasting qualities, its resale value, and it's superior reliability.

If you can afford it, install LoJack.  Hondas are pretty high on a thieves "Rides-to-Jack" list.

Make sure you check out the carfax.com report on the vehicle you're thinking of buying.  All you should need is the Make, Model, Year, and VIN number.  This report lets you know what kind of accident reports have been on it.

    Hope this helps!

  7. Best Economy Car: Honda Fit

    Best Midsize Car: Honda Accord

Best Upscale Small Car: Volkswagen GTI

Best Upscale Midsize Car: BMW 3-Series

    Best Luxury Cars: BMW 5-Series

    Best Compact SUVs: Honda CR-V

    Best Midsize SUVs: Honda Pilot

    Best Large SUVs: GMC Acadia

Best Luxury Midsize SUVs: Lexus RX 350

Best Full Size Pickups: Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Best Affordable Sports Cars: Mazda MX-5, Honda S2000, Mazda Speed3 (tied)

  8. get a compact second hand car.  its cheaper and you get to gain more on road experience without having to worry about bumping or scratching a brand new car.

As for model, go for japanese cars....they tend to be more reliable.
