  1. It depends on the child, but a pediatrician friend of mine says 2 - 2.5 is the most common time.  Some children can be ready before that but she cautions about starting too early because if the child is mentally ready but not physically ready yet it can be upsetting and frustrating to the child and can actually make training harder.

My twins are 20 months and DD is showing signs of starting to train herself but DS is not so I'm planning to wait until after 2 and hopefully they'll both be more ready after that.  I would like to train them both at the same time so I'm going to wait a while longer.

  2. You'll probably get loads of different answers, but I think 2 1/2 is good.  Start by putting a potty out and see if they're interested.  Don't push too much in the beginning.  My kids weren't completely trained until about 3 yrs. 3 months old.  But, then it just clicked and we had no issues.

  3. My oldest son started waking up dry around age 1, so we would get him up and immediately put him on the potty. He was trained by age two. My younger son always was trying to keep up with his brother, so he started early too.

For most children it's anywhere from 18 mos. to 30 mos. Many children respond well to positive statements about being a "big girl/boy". No matter what, NEVER do anything that is negative during this process: don't punish or berate your child because it will backfire on you!

  5. I started w/ my 1st a little before 2yrs... She is 3 and completely and fully potty trained and has been for over a year now!

  6. it varies from child to child. definitely don't start if he or she isn't at all interested in using the potty because it will just frustrate both of you. there will come a time when the idea of going in the potty will be intrigueing to them and they'll want to check it out. that is a good time to start but do realize that sometimes they decide they really aren't that keen on using the potty and may still not want to commit to it for a few months.

  7. when they r telling u they are soiled - thats the 1st clue.

when nappies are not as wet anymore.

around 2 and a half or 3 is usually a good age, depending on child's understanding

  8. Well at 15 months, my mom stopped putting me in diapers, but every hour, or hour and a half, she'd take me to the washroom, because i was obviously not old enough to understand when i had to go. But then I slowly understood and before the age of 2, i could go to the washroom by myself.

Same with my brother, but my mom waited til he was about 18 months because he's a boy, and they mature later :P

  9. 18 years old...

  10. I didn't try potty training either of my children til the day they turned 3, I just put them in underwear  on their birthday and there was no turning back. I found my children had alot less accidents then some friends children who tried to potty train earlier, but all children are different, Your child could be ready by  the age of 2. Watch for the signs, waking up in the morning and after naps dry, wanting to use or interested in the toilet.

  11. well, does you child know when they have to go...?

do he/she know the simple words: pee, p**p, potty...?

does he/she want to watch when you go...?

if those answers are Yes, then its time....

if you already bought the training potty bring it out and have him/her sit on it after a meal for 10-15 minutes... if he/she goes tell him/her that he/she did a great job...
