  1. Finches and budgies, also Lovebirds, but I think they would hit the 6 inch mark. They aren't big enough enough to be a parrot, though, but they are as pretty as a parrot.

  2. honesty budgie parakeets are really only one of the smallest.

    but there are finches =]

  3. budgies

    Lovebirds

  4. Budgies and finches

  5. Parrotlets are wonderful birds and good companions but I wouldn't recommend one as a "first bird".  They have all the attitude of a big bird but in a tiny package.  They just don't seem to understand they are not their Amazon cousins.  They are intelligent, curious, bold and feisty.  If you've had some experience with birds before, you might really enjoy being owned by a parrotlet.

Whatever bird you decide on, you should look for a breeder who hand feeds and socializes the babies.  A hand fed, socialized baby is MUCH easier to work with than a parent raised baby that is not used to being held and handled.

Also consider joining a Yahoo Group that is dedicated to the type of bird you're interested in.  You'll be able to ask any questions you might have and probably even find a breeder near you.

    Good luck!

  6. The most entertaining small bird is BY FAR the parrotlet, it's the world's smallest parrot and retains all the parrot-like qualities and personality quirks.  They are like little comedians, they love attention and human interaction. They are about the size of a parakeet but a bit stockier.

If you're just looking for a list then there's:

Budgies (big parakeets), finches, canaries, lovebirds (actually those are right at about 6")... that's all I can think of right now.
