Whats a good camcorder that i can buy??

Question

well i wanna buy a camcorder with a built in hard drive and to have a steady shot

but also be under $400 im on a low budget.

i still want it to be good

cuz i wanna be a cameraman for my school and i want a good camera for it

i know how to use one but i dont know which is a good camera

If you want to use what pros use, the only hard drive camcorder is actually a miniDV tape camcorder with an external hard drive that store video to DV or HDV format - not the highly compressed MPEG2 or AVCHD that internal hard drive consumer camcorders typically do.

Take a look at the Canon ZR family. Especially the 800, 900 and 930... they have a mic in jack (but no manual audio control). The camcorders with mic in jack AND manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9 - but they are outside your stated budget.
