Whats a good camera to buy that takes good night shots?

Looking for a decent camera to buy that takes good night shots...ie in nightclubs etc. Preferably under £150...

nothing is going to take good pics in a nightclub for that price.  Clubs are to dark.  you need lots of flash, or a really good tripod and camera that lets you adjust the aperture and shutter speed, as well as select the proper iso settings.

Only a DSLR with a fast prime lens (50mm f1.4 or 85mm f1,4) in conjunction with a higher ISO (800, 1600) is going to do well in low-light, non-flash photography.

A digicam has a slow lens and a small sensor. When used at higher ISO settings the pictures will simply be too noisy to be of much use. A program like Noise Ninja will help but don't plan on making large prints.

you can get away with using the Flash and Tripod by increasing the Camera ISO setting.

The only problem is the more you increase the ISO the noiser the photos become, with most compact camera noise becomes visable at ISO 200 and buy ISO 400 its a bit of a mess.

You could use a DSLR, (bigger sensors mean better noise control ( upto ISO 800-1600) but thats too bulky and heavy to carry around.
