I have a 2006 charger and just came into some extra money, around$1500. Which subs produce a deep crisp bass? Which amp(s) should i consider? Also, whats mids n tweeters shouls i consider. Right now, im concentrating on the previous. The head unit will stay for now unless it is completely necesary. I want quality brands not something u can pick up at ur local flea market. Thanks in advance for your feedback

  1. I have had success with JL audio for subs, but Alpine and Kenwood would also be good choices.  They seem to have a nice accurate sound and good quality.  I think the enclosure has as much to do with the overall sounds as much as anything with subs, so if you want tight bass stick with a sealed enclosure, if you want huge bass look into a bandpass or ported enclosure.  For an amp, I like Kenwood, but about everyone has their own favorites.  I have also used MTX and cant complain about that amps performance.  I would look at the RMS power rating on the sub and then find an amp that is comparable.  Don't pay to much attention to the peak power ratings, since RMS is the amount of continuous power that the products are rated for.  When you look at upgrading your tweeters and speakers I would recommend using and amp on them too, it will make a noticeable increase on the sound quality.  A set of component speakers from Alpine, Kenwood or Polk would all produce good sound quality, but if you are not using an amp, then I would recommend Kenwood KCF-1661s  or something with a similar rms rating.  Check out www.crutchfield.com, the have a setup that will tell you what speakers will fit your car and you can look at consumer reviews on many of thier products.

  2. usually the head unit is the FIRST upgrade...

driving components with a factory head unit is a waste, generally speaking...

upgrade the head unit first, then add Subs/Amps then upgrade the speakers...
