Whats a good charity to help the earth or find a cure for cancer?

Question

I'm having a sweet 16, i didn't want to, but then i realized it would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for a charity, but i need to find one i really like.

i either want one that helps 'save the earth' whatever that may entail in the charity, or one that is aided towards curing cancer.

please help with as many as you can along with URL's to the homepage of the charity so i can do research on it on my own.

Check out Idealist.org.  They have a huge list of organizations that would put the money you donate to good use.  They also have a very good search engine so you can find exactly what you want!

Volunteermatch.org may be of some help as well, but I'm not sure if you can search for just the organizations themselves.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk is not only a walk, but it is also a charity that raises money for breast cancer research.  I am walking the 60 mile walk.  You should try it, just go to 08.the3day.org to find out more.
