Whats a good dvr that cheap and easy to use?

i am new to it i just want to buy a dvr to record its always sunny in philadelphia cus i work every thurs. do you need anything special for it or can you just hook it up and it works. i have comcast basic cable. please help im trying to look for one under 100 would be best but willing to spend more?

  1. Well, if you do not mind used, you can pick up a used TIVO on craigs list ( http://www.craigslist.org for about $40.   You will have to pay for the TIVO service (at about $10 a month if you buy a year at a time).  

    Or you can look into how much it costs to rent a DVR from comcast.  

    Either way your looking at having a monthly fee...

    The only way I know to avoid the fee is to use a PC as a DVR (you will need a video card for the PC).  But this option is probably not an easy choice, especially if you are not handy with PCs.

  2. You may also want to look into a DVD Recorder.  One of those will cost you about $150 on average.  It will keep you from having to pay the monthly subscription fee you get with Tivo and other DVR systems from the various cable providers.

    You can purchase a spindle of blank DVD's for much less than what a tivo subscription fee would cost.  Some DVD Recorders will also let you use DVD RW discs meaning you can use the same disc over and over.
