  1. For a fish only 20 gallon tank, LEDs are simply ridiculous.  That is a few hundred dollars you'd be spending on light you absolutely don't need.  You just need to be able to see your fish and make them look good (you'll need a 55+ gallon tank at some point).  Standard fluorescent tubes would be fine, and look for a 10,000K bulb to match, as this will accentuate the fish's color.


  2. Try an LED instead. CFL's are overrated and can be dangerous, for the environment too. An eco LED would be helping out your little fishies. And also, they'd be far reaching for such a big tank. I'd just do a google search for them. Then I'd get 'em cheap off of ebay.

    A few hundred dollars...? I only have a different perspective, than the general public and most of the media on fluorescents.. On ebay, there's some for $15 or $.99 I think, but I truly have no idea what would be good for a fish tank, I just had a thought for something different, sorry.
