Whats a good guitar to play classic rock on?

Ive been playing for a year and its time to switch from my peice of **** ibanez starter pack. Bands i like are Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and the Roling Stones.

get a fat strat, (a standard mexican made stratocaster with a humbucker)

Hi Micheal.  Well, for starters.... Jimi Hendrix was primarilly a Fender Stratocaster player, as well as David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.  Jimmy Page from Zeplin was a Les Paul player, and the Stones players have pretty much used about everything.

   So.. 2 good starting points right there.... Fender and Gibson!   Bottom line is though.. get the guitar YOU feel most comfortable with.

I suggest a les paul for classic rock. The humbuckers give it that sound. Stratocasters are more for blues.

A Fender Strotocaster, a Gibson Les Paul or ES 335, or a Rickenbacker.

From what I have seen, most people from the bands you like play Gibson Les Pauls. But Jimmy Hendrix used a Stratocastor. They both have different sounds, so I would go to a guitar shop and see which one you like.

FENDER STRATOCASTER!!!! its perfect for almost any kind of music. i play blues, rockabilly, old country, and some classic rock too. my strat is amazing! its a great investment and its guna last you a long time.

Don't go with Fender. You have to go with Gibson or maybe even a Guild. Guild would be sweet buy they are expensive. I use a Gibson Epiphones Sheraton. Its a jazz guitar but I can play metal,rock,classical,blues and spanish music on it.

I'd go for a Strat (preferably with a HSS configuration) You can get an higher-end Squire cheaper than a Fender, and they're actually pretty versatile guitars. plus you can upgrade everything on them, and the humbucker will give you a much different sound than 3 singlecoils so you can get closer towards the Stones, Z.Z.Top styles, etc.
