Whats a good hd camcorder?

my family and i have been looking for one and there has been good and bad said on all of them that we have looked at. which ones do u like?

MiniDV tape based camcorders that record to DV and HDV format provide best available video quality. Tapes are cheap and have a good long shelf life for archival. With a firewire port on your computer, most editors can easily deal with DV... and even HDV (though MovieMaker can't deal with HDV).

Hard drive and flash memory is OK video quality. AVCHD can have challenges depending on the editor you use and the camcorder you use. Archive storage is an extra step.

DVD camcorders should be recalled and never see the light of day.
