i am used to Reading jane austen novels but now that i have read them all i would like to read some type of story that contains un ending love, betrayal, infidelity, something fun to read.

i would prefer an old british novel maybe something during or before the 18 century, but if not that's ok as long as the story is juicy and full of true love.

  1. Any cheap romance book has all those. The book just doesn't have much substance.

  2. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier

Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

    Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

If you haven't read them they are fabulous books and are classic.

  3. well, here's a series. only the final 2 meet what you want.

    Ender's Shadow

    Shadow of the Hegemon

    Shadow Puppets

    Shadow of a Giant

here's an overview: Bean, a genetically augmented superhuman, is given a permanent state of being a child. this makes him learn very fast. but grow very slow. but he never stops growing, so eventually, his body will collapse on himself. meanwhile, Achilles is a mastermind psycho who grows to own power over the world, just to kill Bean. thirdly, the world is under a huge economic downfall after a war with Formics. all this, twisted with the love story of Bean and Petra, and thier battle with the 20-year timer ticcing the end of Bean.

  4. i absolutely love the book "A Great and Terrible Beauty" it is the first in a three book series. the second on is "Rebels Angels" and the third (and in my opinion the best) is "Sweet Far Thing". they are set in the 1800s and have love, magic and a lot of obstacles. it isn't exactly full of true love, though there is quiet a bit of it.

  5. "Aztec" by Gary Jennings. Or if you put on your big person pants and really want to tackle a classic, read "I, Claudius" by Robert Graves. About the first four Roman Emperors; including Caligula and even a little bit of Nero thrown in! Maybe get the PBS series first from your local library; it's GREAT! And it may inspire/encourage you to read the book. Um...let's see...what else....The Talented Mr. Ripley (yes, it was a book LONG before it was a movie!!); The Portrait of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde and of course..."Gone With The Wind"!!! My all time favorite...talk about unrequited love! Also a great history of the US Civil War, with wonderfully alive and believable characters. Without a doubt, hands down, read it. Again, maybe to inspire you, rent the movie starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. Then I know you'd want to read the book! And just because it is a lot of pages, don't let that deter you. It is wonderfully written and not at all hard to read! In fact, I bet you won't be able to put it down. Same with "Aztec".

Have fun! Ask your librarian, too: they live for this sort of question. It's their job and they love to help people find exactly what they are looking for; and to give great suggestions and maybe steer people to books that otherwise they may not consider. There are soooo many incredibly excellent books; it's like a never ending buffet! Enjoy reading; you will never be at a loss of what to do; books truly are our friends!! And aren't you really sick of WATCHING stuff; of having someone else's take on things pushed on you? With reading, you can exercise your own mind and opinions and best of all, it's free! I love love love the library!!

  6. The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger - it's one of my favorite books ever. Their love is just so.....leaves me wishing I had someone to love like that, lol.

  7. the other boleyn girl or anything else by philippa gregory just about every single one of her books takes place before the 18th century and they are very good.
