I'm getting a new full bed and i need a new mattress. What kind would you recommend? I have about 600 dollars to spend. I know its not much for a mattress but i have to pay for this myself and my job only pays so much.

thanks!

  1. OMG i got a deep sleep and EVERYONE who sits on it is lik eim stealling your bed it is the BEST bed in the WHOLE WORLD omg

    GET A SIMMONS DEEP SLEEP

  2. Since temperpedic (spelling?) mattresses are VERY expensive, I would get the cheapest mattress you can find, and get a temperpedic mattress topper and pillow. That's what I did, and I love it. You could also get a sleep number, but those are expensive too.

  3. Compare the 'cutaways' of different mattresses.  If the salesperson refuses to show you the cutaway, go elsewhere.  If you are buying the traditional mattress with coils, look for a sturdy metal in the coils, a layer of sisal to keep the top foam from sinking into the coils and a sturdy cover over the foam.  Don't bother getting the extra pillow top as that is just an extra layer of foam and your sheets won't fit.  It does not matter if the fabric on mattress and box spring matches.

You can also choose to get a mattress made of foam.  Foam does not last as long or provide much support.  Foam also feels hot so must be covered with a thick mattress pad.

Don't be shy about actually lying down on the mattress in the store.  You will need something that you find comfortable as you will spend one-third of each day for at least 10 years on this mattress.
