Hey I'm looking for a good all around mountain bike good for trails and roads. Should I go with a regular front suspension or go with a full suspension. And also are disc breaks really worth the extra money. Thank you.

  1. Well you if your serious about the woods go for a descent mountain bike with full front and back suspension, disc brakes are also recomended for hard, muddy trails, but if your just looking for something in your back yard and street then just get something with front suspension, and the non disk brakes, this will cost you around $350-$500 and you will get a long lasting nice bike.

  2. Specialized RockHopper series are great. Giant has some good models in what they consider sport category like the Yukon(they all have different names) or their XTC trail bikes.

  3. Mountain bikes are horrid on roads, due to tires and the gear ratios.  If you are going cross-country, full suspension is where its at.  Discs are great if you are slogging through lots of mud and water.  As for a good all-around mountain bike, Gary Fisher's Dual-Sport's are very good, such as the Montare, or Utopia.  At least with these two, you can get around at a decent clip on the roads, however there is no rear shocks, but it appears you are not a hard-core mountain biker.
