  1. Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life (1946), your question is practically the movie plot.

  2. I agree with the previous posters - Little Miss Sunshine and The Pursuit of Happyness are very good movies.  The best one I can think of for that topic, however, is Patch Adams.  He committed himself into a psychiatric hospital because he was about to commit suicide.  While in there, he realized that he really wanted to help people and went to medical school and revolutionized the practice of medicine.  Awesome movie!

  3. Watch Little Miss Sunshine, here is the trailer:

    It also won two oscars:

    I'm a boy and i nearly cried

  4. Little Miss Sunshine - brilliant movie

The characters have lots of issues to work out but it's funny too

  5. The Pursuit of Happyness, Little Miss Sunshine, I Am Legend

  6. I think one of the best movies in regards to this is HAROLD AND MAUDE. Harold is incredibly depressed acting out , well watch it and see. It is a cult classic, one of the top Insider Hollywood favourites. It stars Ruth Gordon as Maude and Bud Cort as Harold. It is a very dark comedy that gets increasingly hilarious and the end where Harold discovers his freedom to be who he IS is wonderful.

  7. Little Miss Sunshine is a good one!

Prozac Nation - but it's a little weird. She finds out who she is, but I don't know if that's a good thing.  The ending was weird.
