  1. You could use food grade diatomaceous earth: http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/diatom...

But I agree that the chances are that it's something else unless he's had fleas recently.  If he's had fleas then he could have tapeworms.  It would be best to get him a check up at the vet and take a stool sample along to test for worms.  They can give him medicine if it's worms, but considering his age you might want to talk to the vet about trying DE since it would probably be more gentle.

    good luck!

  2. I want to congradulate you on being a fantastic pet owner. 21 years is incredibly impressive for a cat. Well done.

I doubt your cat has worms. Same as in humans, the older cats get, the more their organs deteriorate. Your cat is quite up there in years and time is probably taking a toll on him. Your cat's kidney are probably beginning to fail, and this is very common in old cats. The best thing you can do is give him a Senior food diet with as much protein as possible, or softer food to help him eat, because his teeth probably arent as strong as they were when he was a kitten. Just try to make him comfortable. 21 years is really old for a cat, which is roughly in the 90s-100s.

  3. A cat of this age should only be de-wormed by your vet. However, are you sure this is caused by worms? I have a friend with an 18 yr. old cat who eats like crazy and keeps getting skinnier. The vet found this to be a thyroid problem, put the cat on medication, and he's already starting to gain some weight, and doesn't seem to be starving all the time. Have your vet check him out. Best of  luck to you.
