  1. You can get any phone and get free long distance through PhoneHog. Just go to www.PhoneHog.com to sign up. It's really easy and it's completely free.

  2. one of the cheapest LD right now is with MagicJack!

  3. Maybe u should try out the Cordia VOIP plans at https://www.cordiaip.com/

They are running a promotion right now where u can enjoy the first month free for all Cordia VOIP plans. The promotion code is AGLEEX182X. But if u forgot to enter this code, u will not enjoy the first month free.

    Good luck.

  4. You can get long distance on a landline for as cheap as 2.5 cents per minute -- http://www.e-wisdom.com/long_distance/

If you're talking about cell phones, almost all carrier plans have free long distance included even in their cheapest monthly plans.

  5. Vonage is good... there's other local ones through most cable companies too. With all the phone companies I see that offer free long distance, you have to have a cable modem to hook it up. I had Vonage and it hooked up to my cable modem. Bad thing was that if your internet stops working so does your telephone. Good thing was the free long distance and the price. The bill was actually the same every month... around 28 dollars!!!!!

  6. I will have to assume your question includes VoIP services.

However, nothing is truly free - there is always a price to pay - in one form or another.

Even services that advertise free long-distance calling (except "in-network" calls) typically charge you an "up-front" charge for the "free" service - so it is not really free.

But some of these are a "good deal".  Like the Magic Jack and Skype.

Skype gives "unlimited free calling" to USA/Canada for the low cost of $36/year with their new SkypePro service - not really free, but a good deal.

Often, new beta services will offer free calling.  But the free part usually only last during the beta development period.  Once they build up their subscriber base with eager believers, guess what - it's no longer free (Skype did that - among others  - nothing new - it's a great sales pitch to get new customers).

The latest fad in "free" phone calling services requires you to listen to 15-20 seconds of sponsored commercials before connecting your call.  I won't even bother listing their names - I hate commercials.  But then again, that is how TV networks work.  You get free TV - in exchange for watching ridiculous commercials every 10 minutes or so.....

  7. Free long distance would be determined by the package you get to go with the phone itself. As for which is a good phone, that all depends on where you live and which providers are available in you area.
