Whats a good place to go to in Japan?

Well it depends what kind of things you like.  If you like cities then look no farther than Tokyo.  The famous areas are Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, Asakusa, Yasukuni Shrine, Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, Akihabara...... the list is endless.  If you like the countryside then Tokyo has that too (Takao San etc), it is a huge place.  If you want to see the historical sites then get a shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto and Nara.  Hiroshima's peace park is a must see if you have the time.  All of the above places are pretty busy though.

If you want to go off the beaten track then head to Hokkaido and travel round there or get down to Okinawa and chill on the beaches and do some diving.  If you are only here for a week or two then just stick with the main places, Tokyo and Kyoto.    Check out if there is a festival when you are here as they are well worth going out of your way for.  Enjoy

Okinawa is awesome if you like the island life.

Roppongi, Tokyo is even better if you like the high volume city party life where the bars close at like 6 in the morn!
