Whats a good place to surf besides Hawaii?

On any given day, there can be good rideable waves on either the east or west coast of the US. Sorry guys, but it just has to be a hurricane to get anything going in the Gulf. I have researched this for forty years, and even at the most regular breaks, you can show up to find a mill pond, and surfers telling you, "You shoulda been here yesterday."

How well do you surf? Southern California has some really great spots that accommodate different skill levels. I know one really great east coast place, but, no offense, I'm not telling you, it's already crowded enough.

I'm going to go ahead and say Kitty Hawk,NC,it's calm,good waves,not too much people in your way,and good waves every morning from about 6:30AM to 9:30 PM,the best place to stay is in a beach house,heck maybe you'll see my families beach house,if you want to go a bit cheaper,stay in a hotel.If you do go stop by one of the places you'll eat the BEST hamburgers and fries in your life called Five Guys.There is a lot of surf and skae shops there,a lot of pro surfers secretely go surf there also.

i personally have the most fun surfing in California and in Florida but i have friends that surf in the Gulf of Mexico and say that it has good waves. i perfer California though

I love Santa Cruz it has medium to huge waves , get a wetsuit though it is kinda cold but with a wetsuit then you will be warm and fine!!Good Luck!!
