This depends on where you live, and what type of duties you expect them to preform.  An assistant in a small place makes much less than one in a larger city because of cost of living.  There is no way for us to answer your question, but YOU can.  Call some temp agencies and ask them what their people are usually paid.  Call more than one.  

If you don't need someone IN your office, you can get a virtual assistant a little cheaper, because they don't have to travel to you.
