I want like a pet that I can bring with me on walks and stuff. Not like on a leash but when I go walking I want him to sit on my shoulder or in a purse.carrier or something.

I heard ferrets or rats are good.

What do you suggest?

  1. a ferret can be walked and so can a bunny

  2. ferrets are pretty cool but i say guinea pigs are more awesome!

  3. I would suggest rats, they are very good at balancing on your shoulder and can be toilet trained.

(I mean, if you bought a carry case around rats can be trained to use it as their toilet, instead of just going on your shoulder.)

This is from experience, but I'm not sure about ferrets though, since I've never had one.

  4. my rats sit on my shoulder all the time

  5. rats are good,,,,also bunnies, parrots, sugar gliders, sloths, hedgehogs, tucans, and midget bear cubs.  hmmm how about a little dog for your purse...like a chihuahua or a baby schnoodle.  Ferrets are cute but they smell.  You may want to try an anaconda but a boa constrictor would be a bad idea.  Also small tadpoles can be transported in a water bottle.  Oh crickets make good pets but you have to be choosy about their personalities

  6. I HIGHLY suggest getting TWO rats. Ferret are REALLY expensive and rats are not. Rats are so much better and yes, they will sit on your shoulder on walks but ferrets are too big.

  7. Sugar Gliders.  They like shirt pockets.  The only thing is you want one that has been handled and is domesticated, or else you will never be able to handle it.

  8. Ferrets aren't rodents they are carnivorous small animals that prey on rodents. Just go to you tube and type ferret vs mouse or rat or w/e

  9. Rats are wonderful pets. They can be trained to ride on shoulders. Of course, when outside, you should take caution. A rat, although trained, can think for itself and decide to crawl off. They're very, very social and should always be kept in same s*x pairs or more. If you decide on rats, get at least two of the same gender. They're fairly easy to care for, and fairly inexpensive. They do require a large cage, though. That could run you about $100.

Ferrets are NOT rodents. They're expensive to have. They, too, require a large cage that could easily cost you $150+. They can be walked outside and trained to walk on a leash. They're not the pets for everyone. They're rambunctious, energetic, and very nosy. They need hours of out-of-cage play time every single day. They get into everything they can. If you're interested in ferrets, please do at least a couple months of research and meet a few. Talk to ferret owners about their experiences. Not everyone can enjoy a pet ferret.

Rabbits are not rodents, but they can be walked. They can be wonderful pets for the right people. They, generally, don't enjoy being held. They can be expensive. They, too, should have a large cage. They, too, need hours of out-of-cage play time. Again, a couple months of research is a good idea, and meeting a few is good, too.

The pet you want is really up to you. It's up to you to research and decide which is the best for you based on the care you can provide and what you're looking for in a pet. We can not choose for you. We can only choose the pet that is best for us. The pet that is best for us may not be the one for you. Don't get the one that gets the most votes here on Y!A. Get the one that best fits your lifestyle and the care you can provide. Good luck.

  10. ferrets are cool
