  1. What matters is a GT scores of 110 or above. With that, you can get anything.

  2. Yes good asvab scores are above 50 but they don't guarantee squat. Yes, the line scores are what does the trick.  There are about 10 of them ranging from electrical to mechanics to basket weaving jk.

Anyway, scoring high on the asvab usually dictates higher line scores but aside from that the big difference is what programs/bonuses you'll qualify for.

For example.  Below 50 on the test, you don't qualify for the college fund.  You still get the GI bill, just not the big money.

Quality contracts are usually considered 50+ but it's not uncommon to see someone with a 35 outscore someone with 52 with line scores ultimately qualifying one over the other.

By the way, the GT score is "general technical" does not mean you're guaranteed a job.  Used in conjuction with a particular line score is what's inputed into your counselors computer at MEPS. Then their computers spit out jobs the combined scores qualify you for.

  3. First off you didn't mention a branch. But going off for Navy, good ASVAB score is anywhere from 50 to 99. It mostly depends on the line scores.

As far as jobs aka ratings, the top jobs would be mainly in the CT fields (crypto tech) or going NUKE or AECF. If you want more info on specifics for the NAVY go to http://www.mynavyonline.com
