Whats a good skimboard zap or victoria? and what type?

  1. They both make good quality skimboards. Also look at Exile. Stay away from wooden boards; they are usually cheaper, but they tend to warp and are heavier.

    Personally, I like the Zap Wedge boards. If you are just starting out, or even for an intermediate or more serious rider, these are great boards for sand skimming. If you eventually get into serious wave riding, you can always upgrade to a thicker, more bouyant, more expensive board that will take you further out to the waves.

    I found a used Zap Medium Wedge on Craigslist for $40. Check out e-bay, sometimes you'll catch a good buy. Stay away from those cheaper boards on e-bay if you're serious about skimboarding, they're not as good quality. If not used, be prepared to spend $100-$140 on a brand new board. A little pricey, but if you are really serious, it's worth it.
