Question:

Whats a good starter saltwater tank size? and what fish?

IM not going to do this yet im just wondering, when i get older and have a good job to pay for the stuff ill make a saltwater tank...but for now i want to know what is a good starter size and good starter fish?

  1. saltwater tanks arent expensive...i just started out and i spent less on a saltwater tank and supplies then i did on my freshwater....and i even got the best sand and salt and stuff for mine! you can start with clowns, green chromis, or some sort of damsel...mine is a 20 gallon but i wouldnt go any less then that. i can only put like 3 or 4 fish in mine!


  2. For a saltwater tank bigger is definitely better. I would try a starter SW of around 50 gallons. Start off simple with just some live rock, and a few fish like an ocellaris clown. They are good starter fish but should not be kept with other clown species, and best to just get a pair of them. Check out the compatibility chart and do more research on the fish you choose. Remember that stocking a salt water is not like stocking a fresh water, and that it takes more time and money to start one.
