  1. GSX-R 600 is prolly  a good starter bike.

  2. Although young, you obviously have been around bikes for a while and say you can handle the power.

I would not go for an all out sports bike at first.  What about a sports  tourer. Something that will get the adrenalin going yet have a good ( 200 mile) range and not leave you with a numb **** at the end of a road trip.

I reckon a Yamaha FZS 600 ( Not the new FZ6 but the Foxeye 2002-2003) kind of meets that tick list and at nearly 100horse and 0-60 in 3.7secs, Top around 145mph, I think it will ring your bells.

This bike looks good, can be tricked out very easily, is very quick and corners like its on rails, it is so flickable.

Will wheelie at the drop of a hat and stoppies are easy with the short wheelbase and R6 brakes.

Riding position is a compromise but very comfortable on a long run.

    That's what I would get.

  3. I learned to ride on a 250 ninja, but if u can ride a 500cc as the case of the katan then u are well on your way especially to just be 12 whoah. If i were u i would move up to a 600cc ninja if u want one of the lower price nice looking bikes in my opinion. Goodluck and be careful

  4. Don't buy a Gixer, definitely to powerful.

I grew up with Moto-cross and and have owned or ridden just about every size and shape of crossers. Now a wheelie freek on a Fireblade

Why don't you go for something like a CB500 as in the CB500 cup.

You get bike bike feel with a good introduction to power.

It didn't do young Haslam any harm riding these bikes...

  5. only an organ doner would get a GSXR600 for a starter bike! I would say a 250 ninja would be a good streetbike for you to get your feet wet on... or just get an enduro to start... and since you are only 12 you will not be able to ride it on the street anyway for a few years...

    good luck and have fun!!

  6. cbr f4i (honda)

  7. I shouldn't answer this I guess since I started on a GSXR1000...but I would say get a GSXR600....even little girls can ride them.

  8. GSX-R 600 is the worst bike to START on fool.

MX bikes are a great place to learn machine control.

Just because you do MX does NOT mean you can handle the power.

When you start riding street bikes you biggest problem (after paying for the bike) is getting insurance to ride them.

Most insurance company's will only allow you ride 125cc or smaller depending on your test standard.

One of the first road bikes I got was an Aprillia RS but I don't even think they make them anymore.

Your local dealer will be able to advise you more.

P.S A Gixer 6 will kill you the first time you think you can handle the " power " !

  9. i race motocross and would advise to tryit and get used to the power of that and then go to street bikes.
