Right now he goes to bed at 8.30pm then lights out at 9pm. He's telling me though that his friends at school all go to bed later than him. I know how kids like to have you on but I've been asking a few parents and they said their kids go to bed late. I dont think I'll change this though at least not for the rest of this year. I kinda like my time alone with his dad..lol Thanks for your answers though.

  1. 8 pm

  2. 4 30 at the lates kids need 23 and a half hours sleep a day.

  3. 8:30 to 9

  4. I would say 8:30 would be a good time to start; he can brush his teeth, get into pajamas, maybe have a cup of hot chocolate and read a little.  After that, 9:00 is lights out.

Don't worry about other kids going to bed later; just do what works for your son.

  5. in bed at 9:45 and lights out at around 10:15.

  6. 9:30

  7. IT IS 8:OOPM BECAUSE WHEN I USED TO TAKE CARE OF KIDS ALL THE PARENTS SAID PLEASE PUT MY CHILD TO BED AT 8:oo

  8. 9pm..

  9. what time does he have to wake up in the morning. I am around his age, and i have to be in bed from 9-10, and i wake up at 6:15 on school mornings. On the weekend, i stay up untill 11, by choice.

  10. 9 o clock

  11. On school days, 8.30 and weekends 9.30 !!

  12. Kids of that age always tell you that "everyone else" goes to bed later, has more pocket money, is allowed to watch more adult TV shows and films, is allowed to stay out late at night...

I'd lay money it's not actually true...and that if you asked one of his friends' mums, she'd tell you that her child tells her HE'S the only one that goes to bed early and that your son is one of those who stays up until all hours.

Do you have to wake your son up every morning? If so, he's already going to bed too late. Or is he always wide awake and up doing things? If so you can let him go to bed a bit later.

  13. After he has finished all his home work,  he can watch a bit of TV or play a video game but be in bed by 9.30pm

  14. 9:30 lights out at 10

  15. Depends on what time school starts. For example, if it starts at 8:30, subtract ten hours from that. He needs an hour to settle down while in bed, eight hours to sleep, and an hour to get ready and go to school. So then he would need to go to bed at 10:30. But 10:00 is still ideal.

  16. Id say 8 or 9 pm, children need more sleep than adults do, 7-12 hours, I believe.

  17. at least 9-9:30 he'll still get the sleep he needs and you still have a few hours with his dad my daughter goes to bed at 9:30 and she turned 12 in february

  18. i think u should not cahange a thing the time uu have for him now is actually pretty late for a 12 year old , but i think he should count himself lucky that he doesnt have to go 2 bed at 7 !

  19. 11 PM

  20. Um, when he's growing into adolescence and all that, there was an article saying that teens produce.. I forget the name, but it was what makes us sleepy, later at night, which was why many teenagers didn't fall asleep until 10 or 11.

It really depends on your son, though. If he's restless for a while after sent to bed, you might try a later bedtime and see how his attitude, restlessness, and energy level respond.

  21. A time as long as he can at least receive 7-9 hours sleep.

  22. it depends when he has to go to school

  23. I don't think you should change anything. I believe what you are doing is what any responsible parent would do. Your son should be thankful that you are allowing him to go to bed at 8:30pm. When I was his age my parents were adamant that I go to bed by 7:30. No questions asked. And that was only about fifteen years ago. About his friends being allowed to stay up late is the result of irresponsible parenting which will effect those children in the long term. Not to mention those children will suffer from lack of sleep from going to bed too late which in turn will effect the ability to function at school and elsewhere.

  24. Hey there, If 8:30 works for you good for you. ;-)  Never happen in my house sport activities such as base ball or basket ball some times were just not home yet.  I have my 13 year old son lay down by 10.:00  altho today he was a pain to get up I hate puberty, lol

  25. When I was twelve I was in the house by nine and in bed by ten on school nights, and on weekends by midnight.

  26. I would say about 8.30pm but he is allowed to read for another 30 minutes then it is lights out.  Add another 20 minutes for each birthday but he gets an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays

  27. My11 year old stays up until 9:00

  28. I'm 12(6th grade) and I go to bed at 9,but i read till 10.I'd say 9:30 he should go to sleep.

  29. do not stay until late night. 12 years old need lots of sleep, otherwise can not concentrate in school the following day.

9.00 pm is late already for 12 years old.

Plenty of rest needed for growing body.

  30. 9 pm - 10 pm.

  31. 8.30pm or when hes tired enough if before them.
