Whats a good type of fake stage blood that is safe around or possibly in the eye?

Stage managing a show and I need answers ASAP!!!!!

Any suggestions (like edible, non-edible, recipes or brand names) would be great!!!!

ooooooooooooooooo syrup and red food colouring..............i wouldn't advise u to put in the eye though.

This may not be the greatest for getting it in the eyes, but it is totally edible and safe, and much cheaper than buying a brand name!

Put a glob of peanut butter in a bowl, and thin it out with some corn syrup, until it is the consistency of blood.  Then add a few drops of red food coloring until it becomes the red color you desire.  It may take some time, but you can get the blood as fresh looking, or day old looking with this method.

The peanut butter adds a darker base so that the red food coloring is more closely matching real blood, instead of the vibrant crayon red.  The corn syrup thins out the peanut butter so it will drip (if you use enough) but still stay thick like blood.
