Whats a good way of training for a race?

I;m training for a 5km run and i want to know of any good way to prepare my self for it seeing as im not a very good runner

  1. I think they give a complete training programme on the cancer research website so check it out. Normally its best to start with half an hours walk and build up to  the running or you can injure yourself, as I did and learnt the hard way.


  2. Practise, with a friend helps. Don't try to run 5k right away, it will only end in tears. Listen to music (I pod), I find it helps you to find a rhythm.

  3. Usually, most races won't allow Ipods, so find out about that.

    Otherwise, go outside and start running 2-3 miles 3 times a week.  Easing yourself into the distance of 3.1 miles (5K) will be quick and and fun.  Just get used to running.
