  1. Jumping rope is the best way to prepare for any sport.

  2. daily, increase your amount in running by ten minutes. ex: monday, 30, tuesday, 40 etc. eat lots of fruits and veggies and drink lots of water. you need to be able to keep a good pace for a long time. don't sprint too fast because you will cramp. gradually boost your speed after you can run for about two hours. always think of your body. if its dry, drink more water. dont dehydrate yourself. lots of protein will help you as well. every morning, do some stretches, sit ups, anything to make your leg muscles stronger. dont overdo it though. it could result in tearing of the tissue.

  3. Well, you have to train on some type of trail (with lots of dirt and other forms of nature). You have to train your knees to tolerate the impact of an uneven running surface. Also, you have to train you're mind for the distance. Most of Cross Country depends on your mentality. Good luck! =D

  4. u run everyday and u run A LOT

  5. eating lots of eating

  6. Biking.  A no-impact sport that builds the legs, endurance and stamina.

Swimming.  The perfect no-impact sport that build endurance, stamina and lung power.

For the high-impact sport of CC, limit to some extent the running.  Knees go quickly if overused.

  7. run 5 miles everyday nonstop

  8. go for a run every day. start off with a shorter distance, and go a bit farther every week. by the end of the summer you'll be totally pro :)

but dont try running too far your first week, trust me you'll regret it. :\

oh and remember to stretch before and after. :)

  9. Week 1 - Run half a mile every day.

Week 2 - Run a mile every day.

Week 3 - Run a mile and a half every day.

Week 4+ - Run at least two miles every day for the rest of summer.

Don't use a treadmill, instead run through a park or around your neighborhood.  Running through the rain can be fun too. If this is your first time running Cross Country, you may want to spread those out a little more unless you feel you're ready to run like the wind.  Also remember to eat plenty of healthy carbs like pasta, and drink lots of water.  iPod helps too.

  10. run a little bit more everyday... today was my first day and we ran 4 miles... tomorrow we are running 5! GOOD LUCK!!! ohh and drink LOTS of water before and after you run! answer mine please! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  11. Run 1 and a half - 2 miles every day.  Make sure you have a healthy diet.  Not much junk food.  Lots of protein, vitamins and stuff.  Just eat lots of fruit and veggies and you should be fine.  Also make sure you drink water it helps.

  12. run...A LOT!!! And eating balanced meals and doing other workouts wouldn't hurt either!

  13. you have to set a plan for running and then stick to it.  Include hills and try to set time goals to meet.  Talk to other team members and run with them.

  14. start out with some stretching everyday,

then to a brisk walk around the neighborhood.

and work yourself up to a sprint.

    good luck.

  15. Hello,

Try running a few days a week at first and build up gradually.  Work more on duration than intensity (i.e. stay at a comfortable pace).  You can work on speed at the end of the summer, once you get your endurance up.  Check out the XC tips below.  Best of luck!

  16. well if this is your first year, you might want to start out with slow and easy workouts. 2 miles everyday, or a nice 40 minute run. do this everyday, and increase mileage/time you run everyday. also, eat lots of pasta salad and water. especially water! ice your legs when you get home, or stay off them to keep from getting shin splints. do this every day or every other day for the summer, and you'll be ready to go!

  17. first, stay on a healthy eating habit. then, take jogs every day or so. when you get used to that, start jogging everywhere you go (unless your on a schedule) then when you start school and cross country dont stop. keep working hard and eating healthy.

  18. wow thas early to start, u got untill next spring untill cross country starts.

take it chill now, u got plenty of time. maybe just play some sports, doesn't mattter wat kind, but when fall comes u should start to eat better and do lots of leg presses, ankle weights and again eat healthy

  19. Good for you btw!!

Basically, there is not way to get ready to run but to just practice running, eat healthy, and drink lots of water, that's probably the most important this you need to help you run. Stretch a lot (especially if you're inflexible like me) not stretching can lead to serious injury so make sure to stretch at least 15 min before and after running. While you're running, its really important not to stop, no matter how long the run is. Mainly because if you take breaks, you're not challenging/pushing yourself to improve.

-Don't worry, after you start practicing every day with the team every day, practice will definitely start getting easier! :) Good luck

  20. you should either run on a treadmil or run around your neighborhood or local track. But its best to do short fast sprints  to build up your stamina. It depends on what distances you are gunna run but just work on eating right and bulding up stamina and you should be ok.

  21. From a former cross country runner in high school and college, there are several things that you can do.  One is to build a mileage base.  An example of building a base is running 15 miles (150 minutes) per week for 2-3 weeks, and then building up to 20 miles (200 minutes) per week for 2-3 weeks, and continuing in that pattern until your season begins.

Run on soft surfaces, like dirt trails and grass, when possible.

Make sure to take days off.

If this is your first year of running, 4-5 days per week is more than enough.  Also, do some light stretching and strength exercises (pushups and situps) after each run.

Finally, get fitted for running shoes.  A running/outdoor sports store will help you find the best pair.

I hope this is a good start.

  22. OMG I WANNA DO IT TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try running 5 miles a day

    but take sundays off

then you'll have ran 200 miles!

  23. RUN.  that's pretty much it!
