Allahumma innee as'aluka min khairiha wa khairi ma jabilthaha alaihi, wa a'uzu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabilthaha alaihi. Translation:Oh, Allah! I beg of Thee the good of this (wife) and the good of her disposition wherewith Thou has created her.  And I ask refuge in Thee from her evil and from the evil of her disposition wherewith Thou has created her.

Note:-  The husband should take hold of the forelock of her wife and make this supplication.  (Tell her that this a sunnah of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) lest she get afraid that you are cruel)

if the couple is registered somewhere, then a gift from their wedding registry is good because you know its stuff they want since they personally picked it out.  Otherwise you can never go wrong with cash.

The "best" wedding gift is money.  I've never given anything other than that as a wedding gift.  I don't know any Muslims here that give boxed gifts either.
