  1. a government issued i.d. is a passport

  2. Passport is absolutely what it means, however remember the new passport rules it must be a machine readable passport, check if your passport has a barcode on the bottom of the picture page if it does that means its machine readable

  3. yes a passport is a government issued ID. you'll be fine.

  4. Hello Ceire,

You know you will obviously need a passport, so check hat your passport is machine readable by finding the barcode on the photo page, it's at the botton of the page, This in itself will tell you it is machine readable, and is issued by a Government Office, which is acceptable in U.S.A. Sometimes you will need 'secondary 'id'  this can be a drivers license for 'qualified drivers' who have passed the required drivers test, and lastly a credit card with your name embossed on it will provide further proof of identification. I do hope this helps you out Ceire, enjoy your trip to Boston, Love the place, try to stay north of the Charles River, it's safer there. have fun though whatever you do.....Tony M

  5. you need a minimum of a passport as you can't get into europe without one! But as long as you have a US passport you don't need anything else as you travel under the visa waiver scheme.

If you are not travelling on a US passport you need to check whether you need an additional visa or not.

Also you may be asked for a back up 2nd ID to verify who you are (i've been asked entering the US before) so carrying a drivers licence can help but anything with your name on - credit card etc will also suffice.
